Job Summary:
The R&D Associate will support the formulation and development of new dietary supplement products, assist in improving existing formulas, participate in pilot-scale trials, and help evaluate new raw materials. This role is ideal for someone looking to grow in the field of product development within the nutraceutical industry. The position requires hands-on formulation work, documentation, and cross-functional collaboration with teams such as Manufacturing and Quality.
Job Responsibilities:
- Assist in the development of custom dietary supplement formulations including powders, tablets, and capsules.
- Prepare lab-scale prototypes based on customer requests or internal project goals.
- Support R&D scientists in scaling up formulations and transferring processes to manufacturing.
- Operate pilot lab equipment including mixers, tablet presses, encapsulation machines, and blenders under supervision.
- Participate in ingredient evaluations and record technical data related to performance and compatibility.
- Document formulation procedures, results, and observations accurately per R&D protocols.
- Help troubleshoot formulation and processing issues as needed.
- Maintain lab organization and equipment logbooks in compliance with company SOPs and safety guidelines.
- Collaborate with supply chain, QA/QC, and production teams on projects.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, Biology, Food Science, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
- 0–2 years of experience in a laboratory or production setting (internship or academic experience accepted).
- Exposure to dietary supplements, pharmaceuticals, or food product development is a plus.
- Basic understanding of formulation principles and GMP requirements.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to work hands-on with powders and machinery in a lab/pilot plant setting.
- Must be able to lift 25 lbs. and occasionally move up to 50 lbs. when handling ingredients.
- Must be authorized to work in the United States.
